The 2015 edition of
Michigan. The Great Beer State. magazine is now available from the Michigan Brewers Guild. The 72-page publication which identifies a record 154-member breweries and detailed listings for each of those members which identifies those properties which offer brewery tours, outdoor seating, live music and more. New this year is a pull-out map, which identifies all breweries from coast to coast to coast.
“From neighborhood brewpubs to microbreweries, our talented artisans are crafting unique flavors and styles that continue to reinforce the culture of beer,” wrote Michigan Governor Rick Snyder on the magazine’s introduction page. “By working together and utilizing our strongest industries, we can continue reinventing our state by widening the ‘River of Opportunity’ for generations of Michiganders to come.”
Among the pages of The Great Beer State, Michigan craft beer fans will find article about the Guild’s Government Affairs Committee’s efforts in Lansing and Washington DC; flavorful recipes and beer pairing recommendations; beer quality and cleanliness issues; the Michigan Brewers Guild Enthusiast club; and Great Beer State merchandise.

- July 24-25 — 18th Annual Summer Beer Festival, Ypsilanti
- Sept. 12 — 7th Annual U.P. Fall Beer Festival, Marquette
- Oct. 23-24 — 7th Annual Detroit Fall Beer Festival
- Feb. 26-27 — 11th Annual Winter Beer Festival, Grand Rapids
The Michigan Brewers Guild was formed in 1997 and held its first festival in July 1998. Today, the Guild hosts four festivals dedicated exclusively to Michigan craft beer produced by its nearly 150 member breweries.
Michigan’s thriving brewing industry conservatively contributes more than $144 million in wages with a total economic contribution of more than $277 million. In terms of overall number breweries, microbreweries and brewpubs, Michigan ranks #5 in the nation – thus supporting its claim as “The Great Beer State.”
The Guild exists to unify the community of brewers, to increase the sale of Michigan Craft Beer, to contribute culturally and economically throughout the state, and to monitor and assure a healthy brewing industry. By working collaboratively with proponents of craft beer, we strive to achieve a 10% share of all beer sold in Michigan by producing world-class events, increasing public awareness, educating consumers, and encouraging responsible consumption.
